This is not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It is written to be accurate about what this service actually does what the board is and is not, how a plan is billed and cancelled, and where our responsibility ends.
01Who we are
Top Roles is operated as a single-operator business established in the European Union. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean that operator, and “you” means the person using the site.
You can reach us at support@toproles.eu.
02This agreement
These terms apply whenever you use https://toproles.eu, whether or not you have an account. By browsing the board, creating an account or buying a plan, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
Our Privacy Policy forms part of this agreement and explains what we do with your personal data. Where the two documents overlap, the Privacy Policy governs anything about personal data.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, and at least 18 to buy a plan. If you are using the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
03What the service is
Top Roles is a job board. We read publicly available job postings directly from employers’ own career pages and applicant tracking systems, normalise them into a common shape, and make them searchable. We also let you save roles, follow employers, record what you want watched, and receive email alerts when matching roles appear.
A free account can read the whole board, use the search and the filters other than workplace and visa sponsorship, follow employers, record what it wants watched, and receive a weekly alert carrying a limited number of matching roles. A paid plan, “Pro”. Adds those two filters, the full remote listing, saving roles, the history of what you opened, and alerts sent as matches appear rather than weekly, up to a monthly limit stated on the plans section. What each tier includes is described on the plans table of the landing page and may change as described in section 10.
We are not an employer, a recruiter, or an employment agency. We do not accept applications, we do not pass your details to any employer, and we are not party to anything that happens after you leave our site by following a link. Every application is made on the employer’s own system, under the employer’s own terms.
04Job listings and their limits
Listings are third-party content. They are written by the employers who publish them and we reproduce the facts they state. We do not verify them, we do not endorse the employers, and we make no representation about the accuracy, legality, completeness or availability of any posting.
Concretely, and without limiting the above:
- A role shown as open may already be filled, paused or withdrawn. We re-read every tracked board on a cycle and close a role here as soon as it leaves its source board, but there is always a gap between the two.
- Fields we derive rather than copy (the role family, the seniority, the country, the technologies, and whether a posting mentions visa sponsorship) are produced by automated rules over the posting’s own text. They are best-effort classifications and they are sometimes wrong.
- Salary information, where shown, is what the posting itself states. We do not estimate or infer pay.
- An employer appearing on the board has no relationship with us and has not paid to be there. There is no sponsored placement and no advertising inventory.
If you find a posting that is wrong or dead, the Report control on your account flags it for a human. A report does not change the board on its own.
We remove or correct a listing at the request of the employer who published it. Write to support@toproles.eu.
05Your account
Accounts are created by signing in with Google or GitHub. We do not issue or store a password. Your account is personal to you and you are responsible for what happens through it, including keeping access to the underlying Google or GitHub account secure.
Do not share an account or a Pro plan with anyone else. A plan covers one person.
You may close your account at any time by writing to privacy@toproles.eu. What we then delete and what we keep is set out in the Privacy Policy.
06Acceptable use
You may use the board to look for work, for yourself, by hand. You may not:
- Access the site by automated means. No scraping, crawling,
harvesting, spidering or bulk downloading, and no tool that walks the filter
combinations. Our
robots.txtrefuses every URL carrying a query string, and that refusal is a term of this agreement as well as a convention. A single crawler ignoring it has previously consumed the whole of this service’s capacity. - Copy the board. No republishing, redistributing, reselling or making available any substantial part of the listings, the derived fields, or the company directory, whether or not you charge for it.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any paywall, rate limit, or access control, or use one account’s plan to serve several people.
- Use the site or any alert to send unsolicited mail, to recruit, or to advertise.
- Interfere with the service or its infrastructure: probing, load testing, vulnerability scanning, denial of service, or anything that degrades it for others. Security research is welcome, in advance and in writing, at support@toproles.eu.
- Submit anything unlawful, defamatory or infringing through the report and suggestion forms, or impersonate anyone.
- Use the site in breach of any law that applies to you.
We may rate limit, block or suspend access that we reasonably believe breaches this section, and we may do so without notice where the service’s availability is at stake.
07Plans, payment and renewal
Pro is sold as a fixed-term subscription in three lengths. One month, three months and one year, at the prices shown on the plans table. Prices are in euro and include VAT where it applies. The price you see before you confirm is the price you pay.
Payment is taken by Stripe, who process your card details on their own systems under their own terms. We never receive or store your card number.
Plans renew automatically. At the end of each term, the same term is charged again at the same price, until you cancel. We will email you before a renewal is charged.
You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of your account, in one click and without giving a reason. Cancelling stops the next renewal: you keep Pro until the end of the term you have already paid for, and are not charged again.
If a payment fails we may retry it. Your access continues briefly while we do, and ends if the payment cannot be taken.
We may change the price of a plan. A change never affects a term you have already paid for, and we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to a renewal, so you can cancel first.
08Cancelling and your right to withdraw
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have a statutory right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of buying, without giving a reason.
Because the service starts immediately, we ask you at checkout to confirm that you want it to begin during that 14-day period, and to acknowledge that you lose the right to withdraw once it has been fully performed. If you withdraw after the service has started but before the 14 days are up, you owe us an amount in proportion to what you have used, and we refund the rest.
To withdraw, tell us in a clear statement, an email to support@toproles.eu is enough. We will refund you within 14 days of being told, using the same means of payment.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time, in one click in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the term you have already paid for, and Pro runs to the last day of it.
Outside the withdrawal right above, a term is not refundable part-way through: cancelling stops the next renewal rather than refunding the current term. This does not affect your legal rights if the service is faulty or not as described.
09Intellectual property
The site, its design, its software, the classification rules and the compiled database, the selection, arrangement and enrichment of the listings, as distinct from the listings’ own text. Belong to us and are protected by copyright and by database rights. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you.
Each job posting’s text belongs to the employer who published it. Company names and logos belong to their owners and are used to identify the employer, which is a descriptive use and not a claim of endorsement or affiliation.
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the site for your own job search for as long as these terms are kept. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.
What you send us, a report, a company suggestion. You licence to us to use for operating and improving the service. Do not send us anything confidential.
If you believe something here infringes your rights, write to support@toproles.eu with enough detail to identify it and we will act on it promptly.
10Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service running and current, but we do not promise any level of availability. It may be unavailable for maintenance, because of a fault, or because a third party we depend on is unavailable.
We may change, add or remove features. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you by email, and if you do not accept it you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your current term.
Which employers are tracked is an editorial decision and it changes. No plan is a promise that any particular employer will be on the board.
11Disclaimer
The service is provided as it is and as it is available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations that are not expressly stated in these terms, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
In particular we do not warrant that the board is complete or up to date, that any listing is accurate or still open, that any derived field is correct, that an alert will be delivered or delivered on time, or that using the service will result in an interview, an offer, or employment.
Nothing here excludes a warranty that cannot be excluded against a consumer under the law of your country of residence. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
12Limitation of liability
We are not liable for the consequences of a job you did or did not apply for. That includes a missed opportunity, a posting that was already filled, an alert that arrived late or not at all, an employer’s conduct, or a decision you took on the strength of something the board showed you.
Our total liability to you, for everything arising out of or connected with these terms, is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or €50 if you paid us nothing.
We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or opportunity, loss of earnings, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss, however it arises.
None of this limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, these limits apply only so far as the law of your country of residence permits, and your statutory rights are unaffected.
13Your responsibility to us
If you use the service in breach of section 6, you will cover the losses, costs and reasonable legal fees we incur as a result, including a claim brought against us by someone else because of what you did. This does not apply to consumers acting outside a trade or profession, except where the breach was deliberate.
14Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time, and close your account as described in section 5.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not serious and can be put right, we will say what is wrong and give you a reasonable chance to fix it first. Where it is serious, an attack on the service, bulk copying, or anything unlawful. We may act immediately.
If we close a paid account other than for a serious breach, we refund the unused part of the term. If we close it for a serious breach, we do not.
Sections 9, 11, 12, 13 and 15 survive the end of this agreement.
15Governing law and disputes
This agreement is governed by the law of the European Union member state in which we are established, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your own country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
Please write to us first. Most things are settled that way. If they are not, the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform is available to consumers. We are not obliged to use, and do not commit to using, any alternative dispute resolution body.
16Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. Where a change materially affects your rights and you have an account, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept it. If you do not, cancel before it applies and we will refund the unused part of your term.
A change never applies retroactively to something that already happened.
