Field Sales Territory Manager, South East and London South

Location: Remote, field based. Covering the South East of England and London South.

OTE: Up to £170,000

About the role

The South East and London South hub runs from the London commuter belt through Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire, out to the coastal cities of Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth. It's home to thousands of independent retailers, hospitality venues and service businesses that rely on SumUp's card readers, point of sale systems and software every day.

As Field Sales Territory Manager, you'll lead a team of 16 to 20 self employed sales consultants and turn a fast growing patch of SMEs into one of the strongest regions in SumUp's UK field sales business. This is a hands on leadership role. You'll have real influence over how the territory grows, how the team performs, and how small businesses across the South East experience SumUp.

What you'll do

Lead and support around 16 to 20 self employed field sales consultants. Set clear direction and hold regular check ins to track performance against weekly targets.

Recruit, onboard and coach new consultants. Join merchant visits to help them build confidence and close deals on our card readers, point of sale and software.

Monitor key metrics like quota attainment, customer acquisition cost and retention. Adjust activity and incentives across the territory to keep the team on pace with the regional business plan.

Review margins and rates on deals so sales growth doesn't come at the cost of profitability.

Share progress, challenges and ideas with the Head of Field Sales and wider stakeholders, feeding insight back into the regional business plan.

Build a positive, high performing culture across a geographically spread team, in line with SumUp's values.

You'll be great for this role if you

Have a track record of managing a field based or remote sales team, ideally in merchant services, payments or point of sale.

Lead people well. You can coach, motivate and hold a dispersed team to account against targets.

Are comfortable working with self employed or commission based sales structures, balancing autonomy with clear performance management.

Communicate with confidence, turning business goals into practical direction for your team and clear updates for stakeholders.

Are resilient and adaptable. You solve problems with a practical, data informed approach and adjust plans when market conditions shift.

About SumUp

SumUp makes card readers and point-of-sale hardware for small merchants, and most of what's open here is commercial — sales and account-management roles across France, the UK and Italy. The engineering side is smaller and concentrated in Berlin, working on the payments backend and the merchant app rather than the hardware itself.
