See Software Mind's open rolesSoftware Mind develops solutions that make an impact for companies around the globe. Tech giants & unicorns, transformative projects, emerging technologies and limitless opportunities – these are a few words that describe an average day for us. Building cross-functional engineering teams that take ownership and crave more means we’re always on the lookout for talented people who bring passion and creativity to every project. Our culture embraces openness, acts with respect, shows grit & guts and combines cooperation with enjoyment.
Project – the aim you’ll have
Join a large-scale data migration programme run by an international software provider operating in a regulated, audited sector. You will work in a small, senior delivery team alongside the client’s own engineering squads, moving millions of records from a legacy system into a modern Azure estate. Strict reconciliation standards, genuine accountability for data integrity, and direct contact with the client’s technical leadership.
Role – how you’ll contribute
Design, build and run ETL pipelines migrating data from legacy SQL Server databases into Azure SQL
Profile and reverse-engineer source schemas where documentation is incomplete, and document the model you reconstruct
Build validation and reconciliation logic that proves completeness and correctness ahead of the initial load and every delta load
Work with the Business Analyst on data mapping, transformation rules and the agreed data dictionary
Execute migration rehearsal runs and support the cutover
Follow ITIL-aligned change and release management for every production change
Diagnose and resolve production data incidents, and contribute to root cause analysis and permanent fixes
Maintain technical documentation for the migration components and hand it over at the end of the engagement
Expectations – the experience you need
3+ years delivering data migration or ETL development on enterprise or high-stakes systems
Strong T-SQL and hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SSIS
Practical experience with Azure SQL Database and the surrounding Azure data services (Data Factory, Azure DevOps)
Demonstrable data validation and reconciliation work: you can explain how you proved a migration was correct, not just that it ran
Comfort working from incomplete documentation, using schema discovery and data profiling as a first step
Experience handling JSON and XML payloads held inside relational structures
English at C1 or above, with daily contact with international stakeholders
Additional skills – the edge you have
Microsoft certification, ideally DP-203 Azure Data Engineer Associate
ITIL Foundation v4, or willingness to certify (at our cost)
Experience in a regulated, audited sector such as financial services, public sector or healthcare
Experience with change data capture and keeping systems in sync during a parallel-run period
Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake or dbt
What we offer:
Flexible and remote cooperation options
International projects with leading global clients
Travels related to international projects
Non-corporate atmosphere
Access* to language classes
Access* to knowledge-sharing initiatives
Access* to private healthcare and life insurance
Access* to multisport card
*The availability and terms of individual benefits may vary depending on the chosen form of cooperation.
About Software Mind
Software Mind is a Polish software services company staffing project teams from Kraków and Warsaw. Almost every open European role is engineering: Python and OpenStack, data platform work, Databricks and cloud AI, and Kubernetes SRE. As with any consultancy the work is on a client's system rather than a product of its own, and the bracketed code on each title is the account.
