Mechanic

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanic to join us and play a pivotal role in the success of the depot by ensuring that our customers can hire what they want, when they need it through the efficient servicing and maintaining a variety of vehicles within the SIXT Van & Truck fleet. As part of our high-performing depot team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles either on site at our Depot in Clydebank or at a customer's location. YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing on vans and trucks

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment

Carry out repairs including brakes, suspension, engine work, steering, exhausts, and transmission

Conduct MOT preparation and post-rental inspections

Ensure all work meets DVSA, manufacturer, and SIXT safety and quality standards

Maintain accurate service and repair records

Communicate vehicle issues and repair timelines with operations and fleet teams

Adhere to workshop safety protocols and maintain a clean, orderly workspace

Support in breakdown recovery or mobile servicing when required

Use OEM or approved replacement parts in line with warranty and lease agreements

Adhere to all health and safety procedures and company policies

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

Adaptability: You excel in a dynamic environment and can work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team

Attention to Detail: You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring accurate completion of all handover paperwork and vehicle inspections

Communication: You have strong communication skills, enabling clear and friendly interactions with customers, even in busy settings

Flexibility: You are open to work on a shift rotation to cover branch operating hours, ensuring continuous service

Driving License: You hold a valid driving license and bring a minimum of 12 months driving experience

Proven experience working as a mechanic/in a field-based role with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served is essential

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills and familiarity with vehicle diagnostic tools and workshop equipment

Knowledge of HSE regulations and safe workshop practices
