SIXT is rethinking HR around AI, and you build it. HR leadership sets the priorities; you decide how to deliver them and you ship them: agents that match applicants, answer employee questions correctly, and take a contract change from request to payroll without a ticket.

This is an individual contributor role with full technical ownership. No direct reports and no plan to get any: your seniority shows in the technical calls you make, the code you ship and the standards others adopt. You belong to our software engineering organization, so you get the platform teams, code review culture and engineering peers of a large tech org, pointed at a problem most of them never touch. HR is your customer, and every SIXT employee worldwide feels what you ship. Decisions live in short design docs, and releases go out weekly behind evals.

If you'd rather ship agents that thousands of employees rely on than demo them in a sandbox, apply now and join Team Orange.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

You take the key technical decisions for AI in HR: how agents connect to our HR core, recruiting and payroll platforms, where data lives, and which actions an agent may take on its own. You build on AWS, LLM APIs and SIXT's internal AI platforms

You write production code every week, with Claude Code and LLM APIs as everyday tools, and you set the engineering bar for the engineers building with you: code review, testing, CI/CD and observability

You build the evaluation layer: test sets, evals and production monitoring that prove whether an agent's answer about pay, leave or a candidate is correct, and catch regressions before employees do

You design for sensitive data from day one: access control, audit trails, data residency, and a human sign-off on every hiring, pay or performance decision

You build compliance into the system itself, so the same platform holds up under the EU AI Act, US laws on automated hiring and privacy rules in every country we operate in

You turn HR's priorities into a buildable plan: you size every idea, push back on the ones that aren't feasible or worth the cost, and make the technical build-vs-buy call

You keep the cost and reliability of every model call visible, and you shut down prototypes that never earned a place in production

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

Senior engineering you still practice You've built and run production systems with real users, and you still ship code yourself. You've owned big technical decisions and lived with their consequences

LLM systems in production You've taken LLM-based applications or agents past the prototype stage: retrieval, tool calling, context design, evals and guardrails. You know where models fail and how to design around it

AI in how you code Claude Code or similar coding agents are part of your daily workflow, and you keep generated code reviewable, tested and secure

Integration depth You're at home with APIs, event-driven integrations and messy enterprise data models. HR or people-data experience helps but isn't required

Privacy and security instincts You've built systems that handle personal or regulated data and treat access control, auditability and data minimization as design inputs from the first commit

Writing that carries decisions You write technical decisions that engineers and HR stakeholders can both act on. Bring a real example

About SIXT

SIXT's European engineering runs mostly out of Munich, with smaller teams in Berlin, Lisbon, Hamburg and Dresden. It's a mobility company shipping its own rental and car-sharing platform, not an agency shop — the volume of open roles here is real headcount, not backfill.
