See Ocean Infinity's open rolesThe Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that products, components and manufacturing processes consistently meet defined technical, quality and customer requirements. You will work across the product lifecycle, from supplier and incoming material quality through manufacture, assembly, integration, test and final acceptance, helping ensure quality is built into every stage.
This role combines:
Hands-on manufacturing quality support - working closely with Production, Engineering and Test to ensure products are built, inspected and accepted to the required standards
Structured problem solving - managing non-conformances, investigating root causes and driving corrective actions that prevent issues from recurring
Supplier and product assurance - supporting supplier quality, inspection, traceability and acceptance activities to ensure components and finished products meet requirements
You will work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, Test and Through Life Support, taking a practical approach to quality and helping teams identify and resolve issues early.
As production capability scales, you will also help strengthen quality processes, improve consistency and promote a culture focused on prevention and right-first-time delivery rather than inspection alone.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the product and manufacturing environment, is confident working across technical teams, and takes a structured but practical approach to solving quality issues.
What you will be doing
Provide day-to-day quality engineering support across manufacture, assembly, integration and test, ensuring products are built in line with approved drawings, specifications, work instructions and quality requirements, with the right inspection controls and records in place
Manage and investigate non-conformances, coordinating containment and corrective actions and using structured root cause methods such as 5 Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone and 8D to resolve issues and prevent recurrence
Work closely with Supply Chain and suppliers to ensure quality requirements are understood and achieved, supporting supplier qualification, performance monitoring, audits, corrective actions and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials to establish appropriate inspection and acceptance requirements, supporting incoming goods inspection, AS9102-style FAI, calibration, traceability and build-standard verification
Provide quality support throughout system integration, test and final acceptance, including FAT, HAT and SAT where applicable, ensuring defects are captured and resolved and products have the appropriate evidence of conformity before release or delivery
Support the ongoing development of the ISO 9001-based Quality Management System, contributing to audits, procedures and quality documentation while using NCRs, defects, rework and supplier performance data to identify trends, drive improvements and encourage right-first-time delivery
Who you are
You have experience working in a Quality Engineering role within an engineering, manufacturing or technically complex environment, with practical exposure to manufacturing, assembly and/or integration activities
You are confident managing non-conformances and corrective actions, with strong problem-solving skills and experience using structured root cause analysis to resolve issues and prevent recurrence
You can interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications and have a good understanding of inspection, product acceptance, configuration, traceability and manufacturing documentation
You have experience working within an ISO 9001-based Quality Management System and understand how effective quality processes support consistent manufacturing and product delivery
You work well across Engineering, Production and Supply Chain teams, communicating quality issues clearly and constructively and taking a practical approach to finding solutions
Desirable
Experience supporting supplier audits, supplier qualification or supplier development
Experience with First Article Inspection, including AS9102-style FAI methodology
Experience supporting FAT, HAT and/or SAT activities
Experience within low-volume, complex or technically demanding manufacturing environments
Familiarity with quality KPIs, trend analysis and continuous improvement activities
Experience supporting products as they transition from early builds into more repeatable production
