Overview
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, spanning site selection, development, and operations. Our global footprint includes more than 400 datacenters in 34 countries. These facilities form the backbone of the Microsoft Cloud and are central to our commitment to reliable, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure.
We are looking for a Community Affairs Leader in EMEA to focus on Community Communications. In this role you will lead the community communication strategy to build trust, understanding, and support among communities, stakeholders, and internal decision-makers through strategic communications, local narratives and storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management. You will partner with the Community Affairs Managers, Communications, Public Affairs and operational teams to ensure a consistent, authentic and engaging approach to storytelling.
The Datacenter Community Affairs team secures Microsoft’s ability to build and operate datacenters by proactively managing community, local political and reputational risk, while delivering meaningful local value to build and maintain our Social License to Operate.

This role is primarily based in Dublin, IRL, with flexibility to be located in one of Microsoft's approved EMEA hub locations, including Milan, IT, Amsterdam, NL, or London, GBR, subject to business needs. This role is eligible for hybrid work, up to 3 days with from the office.
Responsibilities
Strategic Communications.
Develop compelling community-focused narratives that showcase global consistency, while highlighting local impact and social value.
Storytelling & content creation.
Identify and develop high-impact stories across local datacenter development, community investment, sustainability, education, skills, innovation and local partnerships and by translating complex infrastructure, construction and operational activities into clear and engaging stories.
Drive coordination of production of a wide range of content including: Community impact stories, Case studies, Stakeholder briefings, Blog content, Event materials, Internal communications
Stakeholder Engagement.
Partner with Community Affairs teams across EMEA, public affairs, communications and policy teams to gather insights and identify storytelling opportunities, moments and channels.
Community Risk Management.
Identify hot topics for communication based on media and social media tracking.
Operational Excellence.
Track engagement and storytelling performance metrics. Identify best practices and successful approaches that can be scaled across markets. Continuously refine content and messaging based on stakeholder feedback and outcomes in partnership with partner teams.
Qualifications
Requierd Qualifications:
Experience in Community Affairs, Communications, Marketing, PR or related disciplines.
Experience developing and executing a communication strategy and program across multiple countries, regions or markets.
Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups and functions.
Experience with communication/ marketing agency management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, datacenter, energy, construction, development or Mission Critical projects.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, ESG or social impact communication experience.
Experience of event planning and community-facing communications.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Business Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Ireland is € 101,100.00 - € 151,700.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
