Overview

Microsoft is seeking a strategic sales leader to own and grow high-value relationships across the heart of UK Central Government, supporting key departments and public bodies in their missions to drive economic growth and build a modern, secure and digitally enabled government that serves citizens, communities and the country.

This is a high-trust role operating at the intersection of strategic account leadership, customer outcomes, commercial growth and complex stakeholder management.

The successful candidate will lead Microsoft’s engagement across a central government customer portfolio and its partner ecosystem, turning long-term partnership ambitions into measurable customer value, sustainable growth and repeatable patterns that can scale across the wider Public Sector.

Responsibilities

Own the strategic account plan and sales execution

Build and own a clear account strategy and plan for the customer portfolio, underpinned by disciplined pipeline management, accurate forecasting and consistent sales execution.

Create new demand, progress opportunities through robust close plans, and lead complex commercial agreements and renewals to successful outcomes.

Consistently achieve or exceed revenue, Azure consumption, Copilot, AI and security adoption, renewal and customer success objectives, supported by accurate and well-evidenced forecasting.

2. Lead v-team sales excellence

Orchestrate a virtual team spanning solution specialists, technical architects, customer success, services, partners, commercial and legal colleagues.

Establish clear ownership, a consistent rhythm of business and shared win plans so that the team operates as one Microsoft around the customer’s priorities.

3. Build and maintain trusted customer relationships

Develop deep, trusted relationships with senior civil servants, digital leaders including CIOs, CTOs and CDOs, and commercial and security leaders.

Act as the accountable Microsoft executive for the account, ensuring the customer experiences one joined-up Microsoft and sees us as a strategic partner in delivering its priorities.

4. Drive strategic growth and opportunity creation

Identify, qualify and shape new opportunities across cloud, AI, data, security and modern work, landing new workloads that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.

Build partner-led and co-sell motions that extend Microsoft’s reach, increase capability and accelerate customer outcomes.

5. Build strategic relationships at the heart of Government

Secure executive sponsorship and align Microsoft leadership with customer priorities.

Connect customer-specific opportunities to wider government priorities, helping establish successful approaches and patterns that can be replicated across departments where appropriate.

Required qualifications

Experience in Public sector enterprise & strategic sales or account management, with a track record of consistently achieving or exceeding target.

Understanding of UK public-sector procurement and commercial frameworks, spending cycles, and government digital, data and security priorities.
