What’s in it for you?
Working with us means experiencing the best of both worlds: the global impact and prestige of industry-leading brands, combined with the agility and entrepreneurial energy of a newly independent company. In this dynamic environment, your ideas will not get lost in bureaucracy. We empower you to take true ownership, accelerate your growth, and collaborate with passionate experts worldwide to build solutions you can genuinely be proud of.
As a Software Engineering Intern – Device Simulation & Digital Twin, you will help us rebuild and significantly expand the software simulator for our DICENTIS conference devices. The simulator acts like real hardware on the network, allowing our development and test teams to validate server behavior, run automated regression tests, and develop software without always needing access to physical devices.
We already have an existing simulator, but it currently covers only a limited set of device behaviors and runs on an aging technology stack. Your project will be to rebuild it using a newer technology foundation that we are already investing in, while expanding its coverage from approximately 30% to 80–90% of real device behavior.
You will work on a long-term project with a tangible impact on how our engineering teams develop, test, and maintain our products. The final solution will run on both Windows and Linux and become an important part of our automated testing and development environment.
During your internship, you will:
Get familiar with the existing device simulator, DICENTIS devices, and the newer technology stack used for the rebuild.
Analyze the behavior and capabilities of real devices and identify which scenarios are already simulated and which are still missing.
Define and prioritize the device behaviors required to significantly expand simulator coverage.
Design and implement new simulated device scenarios using C# and/or C++.
Develop software that communicates over the network and behaves like the corresponding physical devices.
Make the simulator compatible with both Windows and Linux.
Develop and maintain automated tests that use the simulator as a replacement for physical hardware.
Integrate the simulator into our automated build and test pipeline, including continuous integration where applicable.
Document supported device behaviors, architecture, usage, and known limitations.
Work closely with engineers and testers to understand their needs and ensure the simulator is practical for everyday development and testing.
Break down a long-term project into manageable milestones and provide regular progress updates to your supervising team.
You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field.
Solid programming skills in C# and/or C++.
Good understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, client-server communication, and networked devices.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and break down a larger project into manageable steps.
Good written and spoken English communication skills.
Motivation to learn, investigate technical problems, and develop a solution from an existing foundation.
It is a plus if you have:
Experience with .NET or .NET Core.
Familiarity with network protocols or device communication standards.
Experience with automated testing or continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.
Experience working in a Linux-based development environment.
Coursework or project experience in software engineering, networking, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
An interest in audio, conferencing technology, embedded systems, or connected devices.
💼 What We Offer:
A hands-on internship in an international team.
Close guidance from experienced professionals.
A dynamic role where your input and ideas are appreciated.
The option to work from home one day per week.
An internship allowance between €500 and €600 per month (based on full-time employment).
