Software Engineer III, YouTube Viewcount and Aggregations

As a Software Engineer on the YouTube Viewcount and Aggregations team, you will design, build, evolve, and maintain the critical systems that compute every video's view count, live stream concurrent viewers, and other fundamental metrics. You will focus on ensuring the quality, consistency, and scale necessary to power success for dozens of teams across YouTube.At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share, and build community through our stories. Manage and optimize the processing of billions of daily events, ensuring efficient and scalable solutions for batch and streaming data pipelines, utilizing key internal infrastructure.

Develop and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and data validation strategies across our distributed systems to ensure the delivery of consistent, reliable, and high-quality metric data. Build and augment fault-tolerant systems.

Partner with stakeholders across YouTube, including Shorts, Live, Creator Analytics, Trust and Safety, to understand their needs, gather requirements, and deliver impactful solutions.

Drive the evolution of how YouTube's key user-facing metrics are computed, adapting to new viewing experiences and products.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Experience developing accessible technologies.

Experience in working with one or more from the following: Spanner, Bigtable, Server Platform or Flume.

Deep understanding of large-scale architecture design and implementation.
