Behind Google’s simple search box is one of the most complex technology infrastructures in the world. And behind that infrastructure is a group of Googlers, who design, build, and keep the lights on for our users. Our Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future, and our technicians, engineers, and support teams bring ideas to life. The teams use creative approaches to reduce operational costs and to extend traditional practices to meet our goal of making our data centers the most energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable in the world.

As a Data Center Facilities Technician Intern, you will play a vital role in maintaining the physical data center environment. You will train alongside experienced technicians, gaining experience by assisting with the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC, UPS, generators, and control and monitoring systems.

A key part of your role will be learning to inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems like piping and other electrical or mechanical components. You'll also learn to read blueprints and schematics, assist in conducting system tours, and provide daily support to our technicians. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop creative solutions for improving operational efficiencies and reducing costs, all while adhering to our strict health and safety policies. By learning our systems and tools, you will build a solid technical foundation and grow your skills in a mission-critical environment.

About Google

Google runs core product engineering out of London, Dublin, Zurich, Warsaw and Munich — not support functions. Zurich is one of its largest engineering sites anywhere, and Warsaw has grown substantially. The bar is high and the process is long, but these are genuine product teams.
