About this opportunity:

Ericsson has significantly reduced its Site Material portfolio through standardization initiatives. The next challenge is to understand the true cost impact of the remaining portfolio complexity and identify the optimal balance between cost, standardization, flexibility, and supply resilience. In this master thesis, you will develop a data-driven understanding of how portfolio characteristics influence supply chain costs and help shape future portfolio optimization decisions for Site Material and Global SIPP.

What you will do:

You will select a Site Material category or portfolio segment and define measurable complexity indicators, such as the number of active items, low-volume items, variants, suppliers, lifecycle maturity, and order frequency. You will analyze the relationship between these indicators and supply chain costs, develop a Cost of Complexity model, and evaluate optimization scenarios including standardization, consolidation, and global product adoption. Your deliverables will include a Portfolio Complexity Framework, a Cost of Complexity Model, quantified cost drivers and optimization opportunities, scenario analyses with business impact assessments, and recommendations for future portfolio governance, including IBP and AI-enabled decision support.

The skills you bring:

Strong analytical mindset

Interest in supply chain management, portfolio optimization, data analytics, industrial engineering, business analysis, or a related field

Good at working with complex datasets, defining meaningful metrics, analyzing cost drivers, and translating findings into practical business recommendations

Experience with statistical analysis, modeling, scenario planning, or data visualization is an advantage
