About this opportunity:
GenAI-based coding assistants and autonomous coding agents, such as Codex- and Claude Code-like systems, are increasingly used for code generation, completion, refactoring, testing, debugging, and optimization. While these tools can improve software-development productivity, the energy efficiency of the software they create is becoming increasingly important for sustainable production systems.
What you will do:
This thesis will investigate how coding agents can be integrated with energy analysis, profiling, etc. tools in its pipeline, including design, implementing, and evaluation. The expected result is a prototype and experimental evaluation of an energy-aware GenAI-assisted software-development workflow. The outcome may include:
a methodology for evaluating the greenness of GenAI-generated applications;
an architecture for integrating energy feedback with coding agents;
techniques for whole-application optimization;
a benchmark and experimental results; and
recommendations for energy-aware agentic software development.
The skills you bring:
background in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Good programming skills in Python or another modern programming language.
Familiarity with Linux-based development environments and command-line tools.
Interest and experience in generative AI, large language models, and AI-assisted software development.
Ability to conduct technical literature reviews, design experiments, analyze results, and document findings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while communicating effectively in an international working environment.
Good written and spoken English.
