About Us: At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.

Team Overview:

You'll join the Smart Benefits Insights team who owns analytics and experimentation for Booking Sponsored Benefits - a program that funds discounts to drive incremental bookings. The team combines deep analytical expertise (3 Data Scientists) with strong data engineering foundations (2 Analytics Engineers + you). Our mission is to provide accurate, trustworthy measurement of BSB at the granularity the business needs to make decisions, for which we operate our own measurement system - giving you real ownership over the data products that power business decisions and ML models.

Role Description:

You are an individual contributor responsible for the design and development of scalable, performant, and extensible data models and data processing pipelines. The program runs one of Booking.com's largest experiments on discounting, generating complex data at scale - your job is to make that data usable, building the pipelines, metrics, and data models that Data Scientists rely on for measurement, ML Engineers use for model training, and Product trusts for operational decisions.

By asking insightful questions, you identify the critical data required to address these challenges and align your solutions with the overall program strategy. This demands both technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of business needs.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Driving the implementation of reliable and well trusted metrics defined by the business, connecting disparate datasets into unified data products in the Lakehouse and/or Data Warehouse.

Partner with Data Scientists, Product stakeholders and ML engineers on the data needs for metrics, experimentation, dashboards, and analytic capabilities that will have the biggest impact on business decisions.

Produce curated, reusable analytical data products to enable self-serve analytics for many internal customers across departments.

Own end-to-end data and metrics quality in the team's datasets and pipelines - including monitoring, data quality controls, and proactive issue resolution.

Perform Data Governance responsibilities such as technical stewardship, data classification, compliance management, data quality monitoring, and security considerations.

Design and implement data models following best practices and Data Warehousing methodologies (Dimensional modeling, Data Vault) to produce curated, reusable analytical data products.

Abstract patterns across dashboards and analyses in order to simplify and reuse code and data across the workflows involved. Optimize analytics workflows to achieve scale and reliability.

Build data visualizations to validate data products before releasing to customers, and maintain reporting tools that give the business accurate, timely visibility.

Perform Data Governance responsibilities such as technical stewardship, data classification, data quality monitoring, and compliance management.

Participate in community activities including recruitment, knowledge sharing, and cross-team collaboration within the broader Data Analytics Engineering organisation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a data or software-adjacent field, working with systems and data infrastructure at scale.

Experience in designing and implementing mature Data Warehouse pipelines using Data Vault and/or Dimensional modeling methodologies.

Experience working in a DevOp /DataOps environment.

Experience with ELT/ETL tools and methodologies.

Experience using scheduled workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow or Argo.

Experience/Expertise with relational databases and any flavour of SQL in an analytical context.

Experience with data exploration/visualisation and data story telling.

Excellent communication (written and spoken) and stakeholder management.

Highly skilled at writing and maintaining high-quality and reusable code, applying design patterns and meeting coding standards.

Experience with DBT, snowflake and tableau is preferred
