Introduction to the job

As a Computer Systems Platform Designer, you will help develop and deliver advanced computer system platforms that enable ASML products to achieve their performance, reliability and industrialization targets. You will work on technically challenging designs within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to modules that directly influence system functionality and product quality.

This JG7 role combines independent technical ownership with strong collaboration. You will take responsibility for module-level solutions, influence adjacent technical domains and support the successful realization of system architectures while balancing quality, performance and delivery commitments.

Role and responsibilities

You will work independently within your area of expertise while contributing to larger development activities with engineers, architects, project leaders, suppliers and other stakeholders. As a Computer Systems Platform Designer, you will:

Lead or execute complex design activities for computer system and electronics solutions.

Own module-level designs and coordinate technical contributions from multiple engineers.

Define, document and implement design solutions that align with system requirements and architectural decisions.

Contribute to feasibility studies, concept development, technical validation and decision making throughout the product lifecycle.

Integrate subsystems into complete system solutions and support configuration management and product realization activities.

Define product specifications, testing approaches and validation activities to ensure product quality and performance.

Guide and support one to two engineers in developing components, modules and technical solutions.

Education and experience

You bring the technical depth and engineering maturity required to operate independently in a complex development environment.

A bachelor's degree or master's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related technical field.

3+ years of experience in computer system, electronics or platform design, with the ability to work independently.

Experience delivering technical solutions within multidisciplinary engineering projects.

Experience defining requirements, developing design solutions and supporting system integration activities.

Experience contributing to product qualification, testing and technical validation.

Ability to collaborate with engineers from adjacent technical domains and external partners.

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of technology brings new challenges and opportunities every day. You will collaborate with supportive colleagues from different disciplines and contribute to decisions that influence product performance and system behavior. To thrive as a Computer Systems Platform Designer, you will need:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate challenges from multiple perspectives.

Ownership and accountability for technical solutions, quality and delivery commitments.

Solid knowledge of computer systems, electronics or platform design at module or subsystem level.

Understanding of system-level interactions and neighboring technical domains.

Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams, projects and disciplines.

Coaching and mentoring skills to support the development of less experienced engineers.

Other information

As a Computer Systems Platform Designer, you will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers, as part of larger development efforts. You will follow ASML quality and safety standards and contribute to a safe working environment.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

About ASML

ASML is Europe's largest tech company by valuation and the sole maker of the extreme-ultraviolet lithography systems that print the smallest transistors in the world — without it, nothing below a certain chip size gets made anywhere. Almost all its European roles sit in the Netherlands, split between the software that runs the machines and the manufacturing that builds them.
