ARQUIMEA Research Center (ARC), part of ARQUIMEA , was born in 2019 with the aim of inventing the technologies of tomorrow. An environment of innovation and excellence at European level from which senior and junior researchers from around the world develop disruptive technologies and business models that will serve as an engine of socio-economic growth in the medium and long term.
We are looking for an Senior Optical Systems Researcher (FOG) to join our Photonics and Quantum Sensing team.
Tasks to be performed:
Design and develop photonic and optical sensing systems for Fiber Optic Gyroscopes (FOG)
Define system architecture and key technical requirements
Model and simulate system performance (noise, drift, stability) using MATLAB/Simulink
Analyze error sources and optimize system performance
Support component selection and system integration
Design and execute validation and characterization campaigns
Correlate experimental results with models to improve system design
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for full system development
Contribute to technology scouting in photonics and advanced sensing
Required skills, experience and candidate profile:
Degree in Physics, Photonics, Electronic Engineering or related field (PhD highly valued)
At least 4 years of experience in R&D of optical systems, photonics or FOG
Strong background in optical system design and photonic instrumentation
Experience in modelling and simulation (MATLAB, Simulink)
Knowledge of optical fiber sensors and interferometric systems
Experience in system characterization, performance analysis and validation
Understanding of noise sources, drift and error mechanisms
Experience working in multidisciplinary environments
High level of technical English
Additionally, we will also value experience in the following areas:
Inertial sensing systems or precision instrumentation
Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C++)
Experience in advanced optical instrumentation or high-precision systems
📍The position will be available at both our offices in Tenerife and Madrid.
Flexibility to travel between these locations is required.
