Job Overview:

The Arm Physical AI Solutions team in Munich is looking for a highly motivated software engineering student! Positions are in various teams working on projects across the software stack – from embedded software and firmware to complex application and AI workloads.

The internship duration is approximately 6 months (can be full-time or part-time), starting in 2027.

What you could be doing as a Software Engineering Intern:

Contributing to reference firmware for Arm-based systems, with support from experienced engineers.

Taking part in the development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and code review.

Applying your existing programming knowledge while learning about embedded systems, hardware–software interaction, and dependable software development.

Investigating existing solutions and exploring opportunities for improvement, automation, and better developer workflows.

Working with both commercial and open-source technologies in a collaborative engineering team.

We are looking for individuals who:

Are currently studying towards a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a related subject. We also welcome applicants from other backgrounds who can demonstrate relevant skills or experience.

Have some practical experience with C and/or Rust through coursework, personal projects, or previous work.

Are familiar with collaborative development practices and version control tools such as Git.

Are enthusiastic about learning low-level firmware and understanding how software interacts with hardware.

Qualities that will help your application stand out:

Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, Arm architectures, bare-metal programming, or an RTOS.

Experience debugging software or hardware using tools such as GDB, JTAG, oscilloscopes, or logic analysers.

Practical experience gained through university projects, personal projects, competitions, hackathons, internships, or open-source contributions.

An analytical and collaborative approach, with curiosity, clear communication, and a willingness to ask questions and learn.

Additional Information

We encourage early applications as we review them on a first come/first served basis.

Arm Internships require you to be enrolled in a higher education degree.

In Return:

Working on interesting new projects with leaders in the field is exciting, but we also know how important it is to receive support. That's why throughout your internship, you can expect regular feedback and development opportunities, social activities to connect with your peers, an end of internship celebration, plus the opportunity to be *considered for future Graduate positions (*subject to performance). #getreadytogrow

In addition to a competitive salary of €35,000 to €38,000 per annum (dependent on Bachelors or Masters), our on-the-job learning and mentoring/buddy schemes provide unparalleled learning and networking opportunities from the best in the industry.

About Arm

Arm designs the processor architecture most of the world's phones and a growing share of its servers run on, and licenses it rather than manufacturing chips itself. Its European engineering is heavily Cambridge — the head office and much the largest cluster here — with smaller teams in Sophia Antipolis, Budapest and Manchester, and the work skews to systems software, ML and embedded rather than application development. Roughly two thirds of its openings are outside Europe, so filter by country before assuming a role is local.
