Dublin Mid-level

Apply on Amazon ↗Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) for SQL Server is a fully managed database service used by thousands of AWS customers to run production SQL Server workloads. Our Dublin-based team owns the vendor integrations, security enhancements, and cross-service initiatives that make RDS for SQL Server more capable, secure, and easier to migrate to.
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer to join us and take ownership of significant features and components end-to-end. You’ll work on distributed systems that operate at scale across every AWS region from Active Directory and Kerberos authentication improvements, to third-party integrations, to tooling that helps customers manage their workload in our managed service. You will own the design and delivery of complex components, work independently through ambiguity, and help raise the technical bar for the team through design and code reviews and mentorship of junior engineers.
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
Own and Lead design discussions for medium-to-large features, making sound trade-offs across performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
Work on third party integrations and security capabilities.
Improve automation, testing, and CI/CD pipelines to raise the bar on quality and operational excellence.
Troubleshoot production issues and drive both immediate fixes and long-term corrective actions.
Mentor junior engineers, participate in design and code reviews, and contribute to team-wide engineering standards.
Collaborate with product managers, partner teams, and stakeholders to translate customer needs into technical deliverables.
About the team
We are the Dublin based team for RDS SQL Server, a close-knit group of engineers who care deeply about building secure, reliable database management technology that customers trust with their most critical workloads. Our work spans vendor integrations, security and authentication, multi-region expansion, and migration tooling, so no two problems look quite the same.
We value ownership, curiosity, and a bias for action. Whether it’s deepening your database internals expertise, working across AWS service teams, or driving a feature from design to global rollout, you’ll find room to grow here and a team that has your back.
